چکیده
Abstract Glass fiber (GF) Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) composites are popular lightweight materials due to their good processability. Hybrid SMCs expand the field of operation, combining high stiffness unidirectional carbon fibers (CF) with economic efficiency GF. Combinations manufacturing deviations (delamination, varying GF content, CF misorientation) occur during production hybrid and impede mechanical performance part. A function-oriented quality assurance instead strict tolerances is proposed. Finite element (FE) simulations computationally too expensive for an assessment within cycle time. Hence, surrogate models trained on multiple parameterized FE simulations. The shall allow individual functional in real-time based integrated measurement inputs. This work focuses generation parametrized inputs modeling. Simulations show acceptable from tensile tests combinations deviations. uncertainty prediction assessed both simulation accordance Guide Expression Uncertainty Measurement (GUM).

Volumetrical Characterization of Sheet Molding Compounds
For a comprehensive study of Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) surfaces, topographical data obtained by chromatic confocal imaging were submitted systematically for the development of a profile model to understand the formation of cavities on the surface. In order to qualify SMC surfaces and to predict their coatability, a characterization of cavities is applied. To quantify the effect of surface mo...
متن کاملImproved specimen recovery in tensile split Hopkinson bar.
This paper presents an improved specimen recovery method for the tensile split Hopkinson bar (TSHB) technique. The method is based on the trapping of residual stress waves with the use of momentum trap bars. As is well known, successful momentum trapping in TSHB is highly sensitive to experimental uncertainties, especially on the incident bar side of the set-up. However, as is demonstrated in t...
متن کاملThermomechanical Studies in Glass/Epoxy Composite Specimen during Tensile Loading
This paper presents the results of thermo-mechanical characterization of Glass/Epoxy composite specimens using Infrared Thermography technique. The specimens used for the study were fabricated in-house with three different lay-up sequences and tested on a servo hydraulic machine under uni-axial loading. Infrared Camera was used for on-line monitoring surface temperature changes of composite spe...
